Where it is and getting around

Ashley Park sits off Glenn McConnell Parkway in outer West Ashley, near Sanders Road. The Bees Ferry West Ashley Library (3035 Sanders Road, opened in November 2020) is next to West Ashley High School and C.E. Williams Middle School, and listings say parts of Ashley Park are walking distance to it. West Ashley Circle shopping and Bees Ferry Road are a few minutes west.

Glenn McConnell is the commute route toward I-526 and downtown. Charleston County widened it from four lanes to six between Magwood Drive and Bees Ferry Road, with a 10-foot multi-use path, and marked substantial completion with a ribbon cutting on April 2, 2024.

The homes

This is a townhome community. Every Ashley Park sale in the MLS so far in 2026 was an attached home, and most were built between 2005 and 2008. Listings describe two-story plans, end units, gas fireplaces, fenced back patios or yards, and one- or two-car garages, with some floor plans backing to ponds or woods.

Because most of these were built around 2005 to 2008, a lot of them are on their original roofs, water heaters or HVAC, or just past replacement. I'd ask for the age of each before you set your offer.

HOA

Ashley Park listings show lawn maintenance included in the HOA. I couldn't find published dues or a public HOA site, so ask for the current budget, the covenants (including any rental and leasing limits), insurance coverage for the buildings and any pending assessments. In a townhome community, what the master policy covers matters for your own insurance cost.

Flood, rentals and what's nearby

The address points I sampled against FEMA's flood map are in Zone X (minimal hazard) or shaded X (0.2% annual chance). Check the exact address with my flood zone lookup.

Short-term rentals: Ashley Park is in the City of Charleston, off the peninsula, so the city's Category 3 rules apply. A rental must be the owner's full-time primary residence (with the 4% legal-residence rate), one STR unit per property, plus one extra off-street parking space. There's no age or historic requirement out here. HOA covenants can be stricter, and many townhome associations limit leasing. Details are on my short-term rental rules page.

Schools

Ashley Park is in the Charleston County School District. Attendance zones can change, so check the exact address with the district's official lookup: Charleston County school zone map.
