Where it is and getting around
Snee Farm is in the middle of Mount Pleasant, near Towne Centre, Long Point Road, Belle Hall and Palmetto Islands County Park. It's about five minutes to Isle of Palms and about 10 to downtown Charleston, with I-526 close by.
The neighborhood has three entry points, which helps spread out traffic.
The homes
Snee Farm is a mix of single-family homes, townhomes and golf course condos in a range of styles and sizes. Many homes sit on lots close to half an acre, with mature oaks along the course and lagoons. The Casseque section has custom homes.
Because most of the neighborhood dates to the 1970s and later, expect a lot of homes that have been updated over the years and some that haven't. Get a good inspection and look closely at roofs, HVAC and drainage.
The club and amenities
Snee Farm Country Club is a private club at 1200 Club Drive with a George Cobb championship course of about 6,834 yards, 18 tennis courts, two pools, a fitness room and a restaurant and bar. It's part of the ClubCorp network and offers dual memberships with RiverTowne and Dunes West.
Living in Snee Farm doesn't require a club membership. I couldn't find neighborhood HOA dues or transfer fees from an official association source, so ask for them on any home you're looking at.
Charles Pinckney's plantation
Colonel Charles Pinckney bought Snee Farm in 1754, and his son Charles Pinckney, a signer of the U.S. Constitution, inherited it in 1782. The plantation once covered 715 acres. In the early 1970s all but a 28-acre core was sold for housing and a golf course.
That core is now Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, run by the National Park Service since Congress established it in 1988. The farmhouse there dates to about 1828, and the site is open to the public.

Homes here are in the Charleston County School District. Assignments go by address, so check the specific home on the district's school lookup map before you make an offer.
